L’Econews, the Algerian Agency of Economic and Financial News, reports that by the end of 2013 the substantial growth and strengthening of development indexes of the sugar industry due to the commissioning of the new sugar refineries and modernization of existing production capacities and, consequently, an increase in the share of Algerian sugar export to the foreign markets are expected in Algeria.

Techinservice cooperates in Algeria in two areas: turn-key construction of sugar factories “from scratch” and modernization of existing refineries. Moreover, Techinservice provides services for construction of ethanol and bioethanol production plants on the basis of sugar factories.

Сonstruction of sugar factories is carried out in partnership with the French group Cristal Union, whose counterparty is Techinservice. It’s worth mentioning that Techinservice has elaborated a comprehensive engineering design of one of the largest refineries (Ouled Moussa), and what is more importantly, manufactured and supplied 80% of all technological equipment.   

    
In modernization Techinservice directly cooperates with Berrahal Group, one of the leaders in the sugar market in Algeria.

At its production facilities three A-product vacuum pans mod.TVA-30 (at the refinery in Mostaganem) and two A-product vacuum pans mod. TVA-50 (at the refinery in Sidi Lakhdar) were installed. The supplied vacuum pans have a large heating surface, ensure production of more marketable sugar and contribute to factory energy efficiency, which is very important to the countries of Africa.

A distinctive feature of these vacuum pans is their block design, which allowed to transport and ship them by sea and road transportation means to the destination without any size restrictions. Moreover, all vacuum pans were automated by installing “Topaz” automatic control system developed by Techinservice. The interface was fully localized to the Customer’s language requirements (French).  

It is reported that a war between the major players of the sugar market in Algeria is now gathering pace:
– Cevital that is called the Algeria’s sugar king. The 2/3 of the Algerian sugar market is produced by this very company, which is the leading manufacturer and exporter of the Algerian sugar.
– La Belle that has reached a new level of development due to partnership with Cristal Union and Techinservice, and after completion of the refinery construction in Ouled Moussa it will be able to cover a 35% need of Algeria in sugar.
– and Berrahal Group that together with Cevital were the main competitors of the state sugar production enterprise Enasucre before its liquidation a couple years ago.
The competition is hottening up as Berrahal Group and La Belle tend to undermine the dominant position of Cevital in the domestic sugar market and carve a niche for themselves in sugar in the near future.
